LSC-Houston North students have access to a premium Grammarly subscription for free! Grammarly is a writing-enhancement platform to assist you in improving your grammar and writing abilities.

Receiving your Grammarly Account

  1. Automatic Invitation
    • LoneStar Houston North  is happy to announce that it will now automatically invite all currently enrolled UP students to use Grammarly at the beginning of each semester. Invitations will be sent directly to your student email accounts. No more access codes or account requests are required. You must use your LoneStar College student email address. For example: [myLoneStar username] after accepting the invitation. Personal email addresses will not work for Premium accounts through LoneStar Houston North.
  2. Late Enrollment, Late Start
    • For students who are late enrollments and/or have late start courses, the system will be updated periodically to account for this and send out account invitations throughout the semester. Please email from your student email account (including your ID number) if you have not received one.
  3. Use it!
    • You're ready to start using Grammarly! You can upload documents to your account to get the Grammarly check, and/or you can install plugins and apps to streamline your work.

Note: Grammarly Premium is only available for current Lone Star College-Houston North students. Accounts will lose their Premium status when you are no longer enrolled for classes at Lone Star College-Houston North. Users found to not be enrolled with our campus will have their accounts deleted. Please let us know if you believe we've made a mistake.


If you had a free account using your personal email, just create a separate account using your student address. This may also work if you accidentally created a free-level account with your school address: try following the account set-up steps from scratch.

Unfortunately, there's not a clear method to troubleshoot this situation if neither of the above applies. Contact for account assistance.

When you download a Grammarly-edited document, changes are noted in the comments panel in Word, which can and will print with the rest of your document. To avoid this:

  1. In your Word doc, go to the Review tab at the top of the screen.
  2. Unselect "Show comments."
  3. Where you see "Simple Markup," click this drop-down menu to change it to "No Markup."

We renew Grammarly with the fiscal year, which runs September through August. So long as we keep purchasing it, your Grammarly account will have access to premium features. We will notify users if the subscription comes to an end without renewal.

Your personal account will expire when you stop being a student with us, of course.
